2017 Third and Fourth Grade Camps

These full-day camps are designed for children who will be entering third or fourth grade in the fall of 2017. Camp runs from 9am to 4 pm, with early (7:30-8:30am) and after (4:30-5:30pm) camp care available for an additional charge. Camp includes swimming in the Rec Center pool twice per week and utilizing an air-conditioned gym on campus. Camps may include on and off-site field trips and guest speakers.

Week 1, June 5th-9th: The Jungle Book

You and fellow explorers will discover the animals and ecology featured in Rudyard Kipling’s famous book. This story comes alive with a visit to our FullDome planetarium theater! This camp is sure to excite all you jungle lovers out there.

Week 2, June 12th-16th: Marine Mammals

We’ll go under the sea, in our Marine Discovery Lab, to learn about mammals that call the ocean their home! Learn just how these mammals survive life in the water and what makes them different from the other creatures of the sea!

Week 3, June 19th-23rd: 3-2-1…Blast Off!

Learn all about rocket flight and design through physics and engineering exploration. This camp is guaranteed to ignite your interests as you build, test, and fly your own rockets.

Week 4, June 26th-30th: Eco-Voyagers

Join us as we travel our planet’s biomes and learn about the different ecosystems we have on Earth. Learn how each biome is unique and important for the plants and animals that call each biome home!

Week 5, July 5th-7th (3 Day Week): DIY Kitchen Chemistry

Are you a kid that likes to create science experiments with ingredients from your kitchen? We will discover the wonders of solids, liquids, gases and non-Newtonian fluids, using ingredients you can usually find at home!

Week 6, July 10th-14th: Planet Explorers

Blast off into our solar system as we discover the wonders that each planet holds. We’ll learn about all eight planets (and why Pluto is no longer a planet) during this fun filled space week with visits to our Solar System Revealed exhibit as well as an out-of-this world visit to our FullDome planetarium theater.
